In the UK, the number of gout has increased every year and causes supposedly because they eat unhealthy.
However, a genetic test on a sample of more than 12 thousand people,
published in the journal Nature Genetics, found that a gene may be the
cause that led to this increase.
The researchers at the MRC Human Genetics Unit Unit, in the city of
Edinburgh, said genes and proteins that control gene, may one day be
home to research to produce new drugs to treat this disease .
Some people have a higher risk of suffering or lower depending gut disease genes they inherited
In a healthy body, uric acid, a waste product in the blood, and kidneys are removed from the body through urine.
However, in some people, the kidneys do not function thoroughly, and
uric acid builds up in the blood, forming crystals in the joints,
leading to inflammation, causing pain to the patient.
Many foods have been thought to increase the risk of gout, especially
foods with high levels of sugar, protein and alcoholic beverages.
Many thousands of people eating foods that follow the doctor will
increase the risk of gout, but in fact only a few have the disease only.
Scientists at the MRC Human Genetics Unit has studied this disease and
discovered that the gene symbol SLC2A, can make the body difficult to
remove uric acid from the blood.
Professor Alan Wright, who led the research, said: "This gene is a key
factor in uric acid transport across the different regions of the
kidney."
His colleague Professor Harry Campbell said: "Some people have higher
or lower risk of gout than depending on the genes they inherited."
"This discovery will help to develop better ways to diagnose gout."
Right at this moment, the medicine for gut is limited.
Although gout is a disease that is commonly found in books, but in the
UK there are about a million people are estimated to suffer from this
disease.
